Australia is well-known for
innovative agricultural practices, especially it's Sheep farming. The
centrepiece of this tour is a visit to an authentic working sheep farm. Located
only 50 minutes from the centre of Melbourne, "Carramah" is where we
will spend most time. You'll be able to watch the sheep dogs bring the flock
into the sheds and even have the opportunity to play the role of Shearer.
After seeing the shearing sheds, we'll then explore the property on a
light bush walk. As we go you can search out Kangaroos, a wide variety of
Australian birds and maybe a Wombat or Echidna too. We'll also learn about the
activities of Australia's Landcare program and the work to improve
Australia's environment.
You
can combine your day at Carramah, with a visit to some other
fabulous farms. Some groups often enjoy a visit to the apple and pear orchard,
others love too see new farming like Alpacas. A great way to end the day
is to see one of Australia's most successful recent agricultural activities - winemaking.
