Extended Tour options offered by A Day Outdoors Touring

The possibilities are many but the following are a selection of some popular extended touring options.

THE YARRA VALLEY / PHILLIP ISLAND / MORNINGTON PENINSULA (2 days/1 night)

As a starting point, let's begin by seeing the Yarra Valley. Perhaps include a visit to Healesville Sanctuary or even move onto Phillip Island for the Penguin Parade. Either the Yarra Valley or Phillip Island could be an overnight base. There's enough to do to stay a night in each region before returning to Melbourne. Another idea might be to stay with the Wine Touring theme and combine both the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula wine regions.

THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD AND GRAMPIANS RANGES (2 days/1 night or 3 days/2 nights)

Most visitors to the Great Ocean Road agree that a day to see this area is not enough. Usually they agree after their day of touring. A day tour hardly scratches the surface. Even those of us "personalised tour operators" who can offer a flexible program to pick up a few more sights, do so briefly. The wealth of things to see and do easily justify an overnight stay. One way to make this work for you is to take a tour that combines both the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians Ranges. A host of wonderful overnight stays are available to suit many interests. Your return to Melbourne can also include some time in Ballarat - Victoria's Gold Rush city.

WESTERN VICTORIA AND SOUTH AUSTRALIA (from 3 days/2 nights)

From Melbourne to Adelaide, there are several touring options. Stay with the coast the whole way or combine the Great Ocean Road with the Grampians. Experience fine country living in Western Victoria. Enjoy the famed Coonawarra wine region - often considered to produce Australia's finest red wines. This tour finishes in Adelaide. As the capital of South Australia this is a wonderful compact city with many endearing features. Adelaide is often considered the centre of Australia's wine industry if not the 'spiritual home' of wine. Home to the mighty Penfolds Grange Hermitage, Adelaide is a comfortable and relaxed city.
